I hadn't had a chance to make a card for the Mixability Challenge last week which was to use grid lines on a bg or solid image. I decided to try for a one layer card with a grid filled leaf. I stamped my leaf in Crumb Cake on the Kraft paper (wish I'd gone with a little darker color) then masked over it. I inked up my bg stamp with a Soft Suede marker to omit the birds that are among the flourishes. I didn't have any water in my spritzer, so I used a bit of shimmer spray to re-hydrate the marker...didn't work quite as well as I'd have liked. I used the bg stamp twice to fill the whole card with swirls. I then used the reverse mask around my stamped leaf then added the grid lines using a gold gel pen and a gold Sharpie paint pen as some of the lines. I wanted my leaf to stand out more, so I outlined in Early Espresso then added Sahara Sand shading. It still didn't have quite the depth I wanted so I then took a pencil and added more shading around the leaf and around my stamped swirls. Today's HYCCT challenge is to bring on the bling, so I added bling flourishes and then took a glitter pen and added dot highlights and some glitter to the leaf edges. I embossed my sentiment in Early Espresso. Even with the bling, I think this could still be a masculine card.

I can't imagine anything more fun than watching you work! I am often amazed just reading your description as your creativity flows through each step! This card is beautiful and love how you brought that leaf to the foreground with all those steps. It's perfect for anyone, man or woman and so wonderfully done!

Love your sparkly leaf card! Wonderful way to show the MiX technique. Textured kraft cards like this rock. Hugz!
