I don't usually use dp because if I really like the dp, I have a hard time cutting it up, and if I don't like it that much, do I really want it on my card? The little squares of dp fall in the first category and the base of my card falls into the second one. I'm not sure why, but it wasn't that all appealing to me, so I decided last week to alter some of it. I took white acrylic paint and did a whitewash. I thinned the paint down with water so that you could still see the dp underneath, but there was a slight bit of white on the dp. Today's challenge was to filler up. I really thought hard about what stamps to use, and decided to go way outside the box. I used the end of 3 different paint brushes to "stamp" cream colored paint on the dp. Polka dots of different sizes. When the paint dried, I took white paint and painted highlights on all the dots. I used the end of one of the paint brushes to paint little white dots on the base as well as the little squares. Then I embossed the base using a script embossing folder. I then took gold paint and antiqued it. I just took a scrunched up paper towel and dipped it in the gold paint and rubbed it over the embossed paper, wiping most of the paint off. Just a little of it stayed inside the script embossing. I stamped the butterfly on some of the dp that I hadn't altered using coffee colored ink. I then used cream acrylic paint to paint the spots on the butterfly. I used
The Sweet Stop Sketch 228 for the layout. This card was good therapy for me today. I like how it turned out. This card is also going to be entered in Word Art Wednesday 97.

This is so gorgeous - I'm so glad you needed a little therapy! The steps you used to alter the dp are really an inspiration to me to get out some of those "iffy" papers and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for sharing your always-fabulous work with the rest of us!
