This week our cards are headed off the Florida, to MaryLou. Lover of Teddy bears, purple and blue. I think I did fine in all areas, though you could say I went more towards the periwinkle (my all time favorite) side of those colors.
This sweet little bear chose to dress only in a fine ribbon and bow. I was thinking of the DGS's book "Bear in Underwear", but a bear in just skivvies wasn't really what this challenge was all about. I even found a great digi of a bear in underwear, but he was mad, so that didn't work.
This little sweetie fits the bill nicely for MaryLou. It took 4 hours to embroider this bear, my thumb and first finger tips are sore. I used a 140lb watercolor paper for the base. Should have pierced my holes with the bigger tool.
I threaded the ribbon through the Resplendant Rectangle and made the mulberry flowers with the center of the aster dies, and the smaller 2 of the poinsettia dies. There's 4 layers for each size of the poinsettia. Add in some olive branch leaves and you have completion.
I had thoughts of using chalks to fill in the color, but after 4 hours of work, I didn't want to muck it up!

Woooowww! I honestly thought that this was a line drawing at first...your stitches are so perfect! And your poor fingers!!! They say to use cold on a fresh injury - I say go get a fun icy drink to hold on to for therapy! Your little bear is so sweet! A bear in his drawers would have been welcome, but this guy is just so sweet and perfect that I'm really glad that you brought him! MaryLou will treasure this. Thanks so much for coming to the party this week and for how much of yourself you put into this. Big Hugz, Jennifer!
