Wendy's challenge today was to showcase black in honour (!?) of Black Friday. I had several ideas, and had thought of a penguin. But then I decided to use this toucan instead. I bought the set because one of my favourite childhood books was Two Can Toucan by David McKee (creator of Elmer the Elephant), and in it the toucan starts out as a black and white bird with no colour .
5" square base, dry embossed with the largest Lacy Square. The black layer is cut out from the next size.
Toucan stamped with Versafine Black on white card, trimmed, corners rounded and edges sponged with red. You all know how a CAS card goes - I had two spare toucans before I was finished, so I cut out a beak and embossed it with clear EP, then cut a slit in it to tuck the holly sprig into. Holly leaves and berries punched from scraps of Bazzill.
I used a gold brad to attach some ribbon to the hanging loop on the perch.
Black layer and white layer both on foam dots.
I should really have known better than to try a CAS card when I have a time crunch with piano practice and a dinner guest - so I probably won't get much time in the gallery till tomorrow.
