This is for today's technique challenge which is patchwork. I took this idea from one of my quilt books called The Patchwork Place Holiday Happenings. I used made this into a 5x7 card in order for my flag to fit. The base I used was textured cream cs. I cut strips of SU red cs & GP white cs. I used the CB small square die cut for the Bazzill cs & GP white cs. I also cut some of the squares for the triangles to make the star. Once I got all the pieces adhered together on the card base. I used the CB houndstooth EF over the flag to give it the quilted look. I then adhered the flag on to Kraft cs so I could do the zig zag stitching easier with my sewing machine with white thread. I used the CB medium heart die cut for the center of the star. I used the CB Big Dot EF for the heart on SU real red cs. ( I didn't want to take the chance on stitching the heart ) I stamped the sentiment with SU Brilliant Blue ink on an oval GP white strip. I used the MM eyelet punch to add 2 red star eyelets. The base of the card is Bazzill Navy cs.
Not sure if I like the blue ink for the sentiment, what do you think?
