Hello! This card was made for this week's Stampin' B's Challenge: Bling and it fits today's Ways to Use It Challnge: Fun Felt.
I scrambled around searching for felt for a while, and realized that I had this "sample" package of felt "ribbon" laying on my stamping table. Better yet, it has "bling" studs on it! BONUS! Two challenges down with one embellishment! LOL
This stamp set, Grandma's Boudoir, is a favorite of mine because it was inspired by my Great-Grandmother Flohr. She was a very kind woman, with 9 children. She lived with my mother's Uncle Tom and Aunt Betty on their farm. When I was a child, she was in her late 80's then, and very kind to everyone. Her son was my mother's father. Somewhere in the mix, my grandparents SHARED some grandparents...Yep...that explains quite a bit, doesn't it? LOL
Anyway, when I was VERY young, I used to go and spend weekends on Uncle Tom's farm. They always had a big Boxer, (Gee...I wonder why I love Boxers???), on the farm, named Duke. Now, the dogs changed, but the name stayed the same. Go figure...I guess it cut down on confussion. (Remember, I DID tell you the bit about the SHARED grandparents, right?) LOL
My great-grandmother had a Collie named Brownie. Brownie, I swear this, lived for over 23 years. He was a wonderful dog, he was with my great-grandmother longer than her husband. (He died right after their ninth child was born.) Staying with her in her bedroom, she referred to it as her "Boudoir," was the highlight of each stay at the farm. The big mirrored dressing table and chair sat in the large room and Brownie was always sitting by the chair. Great-Grandmother kept her cameo there on the table with her brush and comb.
So, now you know the story behind this stamp set.
I'm not quite sure what happened to her cameo, but I do know that my grandmother has my great-grandmother's dressing table with the huge mirror in HER Boudoir, today. It's just wonderful! (And, my grandmother had a BIG Collie named Duchess who used to sit by the dressing table when it went to live at Grandma's house.) Leave it to me to link animals to furniture...(Grandparents, related....you get the picture, right?)LOL

Beautifully done, Faith. I love the way you used the little seed pearls on the cameo and the felt flower is gorgeous. I also always love your color choices.

So gorgeous Faith! Love these colours. Great little cameo. I actually chose the style of my wedding dress so I could wear a little cameo pin that my Mom had worn for her wedding!
