Hi! This card was made for today's Color Combo Challenge: Concord (Purple), Cherry (Red, I used MFP's Cherry Slush), and Olive.
I can tell you this...I've been trying to rest up, as my mother wants to come home from the Hospice Hospital in the morning. There is no way I can go and help clean up, and Mark can not either, as we both have the flu. Mark now has an ear ache on top of it! YUCK! We HATE being sick...So, I'm just trying to whip us back into shape, as poor Markie missed school today because he had a fever when he woke up! Geez, just when you think we are getting better, we get worse!
Oh, to the card...I love using off-white or antique white for Holiday Cards. I think it's because when I was a child, my mother used to hand DRAW and paint our Christmas cards! (There was a very special feeling people got when they received a Christmas card my mother made! She always used whatever paper my father brought home, as he was a printer. There were always scraps and leftovers. Most of the papers were very high quality fiber filled papers that were much like watercolor paper.) I think that is why I love the colors, dark brown-India ink that my mother used and the off-white paper together. It reminds me of times when my mother was VERY happy, and joyful. I used Wowza Watercolor paper for the base and most of the panels. I stamped the big panel with snowflakes inked in Adirondack's Espresso. The trees were also stamped in Espresso. I stamped the senitment in Distress Barn Door. The snow was torn and layered scraps of Wowza Watercolor paper. I added glitter for a bit of interest. The purple stripe is the only concord color on the card.
