Hi! This card was made for today's Color Combination Challenge: Razzleberry, Saffron, and Tangerine. It also fits the Teapot Challenge.
Now, I have to tell you, I have not been stamping much lately. My mother being in the hospital, Dad being sick, (after taking him to the doctor yesterday, I found out he has the FLU!), and then my grandma flew in last night, I didn't think I'd be stamping today. However, yesterday...I was injured. It was COMPLETELY my fault. I broke one of MY RULES to get injured. And, what's worse...I was in the emergency room part of yesterday for ME! No, I'm NOT going to tell you what I injured. Let's put it this way, that saying about the head bleeding a lot...well, it's TRUE! LOL
I wanted to participate in today's challenges, but didn't think I could sit up too long, so I decided a SCENE was my best bet. I used a Sneak Peek Stamp Set: A Walk in the Woods today! I cut the focal image to 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" and then tore a piece of scrap paper that was 5" long to use as a mask. I placed the mask across the bottom 1/3 of the card and stamped the focal tree in Pitch Black. Next, I sponged in Pitch Black along the edge of the scrap to create snow drifts. I moved the scrap above the 1/2 point and stamped in the same tree twice, moving it down the scrap to make a shorter tree. I made several more snow banks and then placed the scrap down to form a mask for the sun. I placed a hole punched scrap on top of the other scrap so that part of the circle was masked off and used a yellow and orange Copic with my air brush to create the sun. Next, I used the circle from that mask to cover the sun and used the yellow, orange and a purple Copic to create the sunset.
For the Tea Pot challenge, it's for the Meek soon to be a Geek...Well, my little tree here is a Meek Standalone... He forgot to use deodorant! heehee...Today's destination is a soon to be deployed Marine. He's off to Afganistan. Hooah, Marine. As a step-mother to a Marine, officer, and the SIL to one, I can assure you, those men and women are tough, brave, and loyal. They are the best of the best. First in, last out. SHHHHH...don't let my Army Proud son know I just wrote that! But seriously, our military members are the people I think of EVERY day when I wake. We live in a Navy town/ We have NAS Jacksonville, NAS Mayport, with a Sub Base just 37 minutes from our city limits across the border in Georgia. It's funny, I grew up PRAYING my children would never live in war times. Now, they are fighting in a war and I couldn't be more proud.
Finished size: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Total time to complete: 26 minutes
