This is for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. For this week's tea party, we were to bring anything to do with fishing. We could bring bobbers, bait, fishing poles, sinkers, etc. I brought this "Gone Fishing" sign. There's a story behind this, too:
Old Doctor Maxwell Doilyslobber used to go fishing every Wednesday. Everybody in town knew that, but when he retired, people just didn't think he was REALLY retired. He met up with Sam Smead at the local diner who asked him, "Where were you yesterday, Doc? It was only Monday!" Well, the old doc had to remedy this situation, so he took down his plaque with his stuffed prize trout on it that hung behind his desk in his office and painted "Gone Fishing" on it. He took down the sign that said, "Maxwell Doilyslobber, M.D. - Internal Medicine and Geriatrics" and replaced it with his plaque. Now, it hangs there EVERY day. He hopes everyone gets the message!! As for YOU, thanks for taking a peek!!

Well, I am personally very excited to see old Doilyslobber retire! I am tired of seeing 42,000 pounds of slobber soiled doilies laying around the office......not to mention the wear and tear on the washer and dryer and starch! Did you know that slobber and starch when combined together make an amazing bait for 42,000 pound award winning record breaking Silver Fin mob members? No wonder ole whats-his-doodle slobbers on the doilies and then retired!!
I love the shape of the wood sign thingy! Its Billy the Bass bigtime! What a fun and creative card!

This is really neat. And your story behind it is so cute. I can imagine something like that happening here in my small town of 400. Great use of the woodgrain bg stamp too. Love this
