This is my second attempt - the first one I made, though it looked almost exactly like the inspiration, depressed me. My dear DIL who is stamping by my side loved it, so I told her she can have it. Man, I hated that card. So I made this one instead an I am happier. Here was my inspiration:
So much fun!! I had such an exhausting week at work I had no energy to stay up and do the challenges this week, so finally, I am back! Hope you like it!!~
For anyone new, I do have a tutorial on my blog showing this technique - it's all the way to the bottom of the first page when you click on older posts, it will be the first one to come up - and remember I discovered since I wrote the tutorial that watercolor pencils work better then the pure colored pencils. My blog is at www.karenbarberstamps.blogspot.com Become a follower while you're there and make my day!!

I'd have liked to see the card you hated. I bet I'd have liked it. Of course I love this one too. I keep on meaning to try this - there was some challenge recently I thought it would be right for, but I chickened out. And it's not as if I don't have a whole tin of watercolour pencils .

I can't find my Fabulous Flower set after looking all over last night. This may be an indication that it is time to clean and organize the old craft room!
LOVE this card, Karen. The colors and design are simply gorgeous and a beautiful interpretation of the original piece.

Karen, I'm sure your first card was lovely by my standards, but this one is knock-out!! Love how you have shaded the petals of your flowers....it gives such dimension. The white flourishes are striking on the black bg.

The layers of color in this card are amazing...but what I really love is how you mounted the sentiment in that frame, and the ribbon running through it - WOW it's perfect for the elegance of the layout! TFS
