I made the bird bath and then painted w/ Rich Razzleberry and Dusty Durango, very much watered down. I also blended in a bit of Folk Art 666 Metallic Antique Copper. (Not sure if the copper is still available, I found it in in my ceramics box)
It was sealed w/ concrete sealer.
Directions for the bird bath can be found at gardengate.com. It's a sand-cast bird bath.
I used an elephant ear, but you can also use other big leaves such as rhubarb and hostas. You can also make much smaller sizes too.
This one is about 18x24, but the hosta I made is about 6x10.
