I had a stressful day today, so I decided to relax by doing the inspiration challenge. I told my sister that I wasn't sure if I was going to make a card because I am also tired. But when she called me, she woke me up.
Here is my story:
The inspiration challenge is my favorite. I can't wait until Friday nights for them to come out. I know, its addicting too. Anyhow, my inspiration came from The Outdoor Contemporary Wall Art in the Grandinroad gallery found here: http://www.grandinroad.com/jump.jsp?...ProductID=7785.
This is rather interesting because I started out by using some vaseline with a piece of gauge and wiping it all over the white c/s. I added blue reinker ink onto a sponge and rubbed in circular motions for the sky. I also added oak brown reinker ink to a sponge for the shore lines. To get the effect for the look I wanted, I used additional inks for the shore described here: The inks I used for the shore are pumpkin pie, yoyo yellow, and bravo burgundy. I ripped a piece of a sticky note and using it for the wavy look for the shoreline using a sponge. The tip of the water is 2 prismacolor pencils lightly colored. The white part for the water is a white galaxy pen by bouncing it onto the c/s and the white gel pen for the outline towards the right side of the scene. Sponged lightly over it. I think the longest part of making this card, was finding the flower stamp. I had made the long stems with a gray marker. I stamped the flowers with dk. green ink with masking the second flower. I colored them using the blender pen with green ink, black colored pencils, dk. green brush colored marker, and the centers are colored yellow using a marker. I added the white gen pen as well. Then I mounted it onto the base of the card. I really enjoyed making this card, but forgot to use gloves for my hands. Now, I am covered in ink. Thanks for the fun challenge. Thank you for viewing my card and the comments. Have a great weekend!
What do you think?
*Once the vaseline is on the c/s, you will have about 5 minutes to sponge whatever inks you want to use before it dries up. No need to use glossy c/s as that the vaseline will take care of it.
I really didnt mean to make my watermark that big, sorry.

Beautiful scene! Very interesting technique - having "vaseline" in the title definately had me curious! And I think you SHOULD make your watermark this big when you create something this beautful! Go ahead and brag girl!

Bonnie, I've read all your comments! I agree with each and every one! I cannot believe what you've gone and created today. Yikes, with a headache and just having been woke up from a phone call, you managed to create a killer card. This is one fabulous work of art. It's just gorgeous. It really looks like an oil painting. I've never heard or seen the vaseline technique, but I think you need to start a blog and give us detailed photos to match your description. Fabulous art!
