Hi! This card was made for today's Ways to Use It Challenge: Fabric. Participants were to use FABRIC in some way on their cards.
Well, I'm not telling any secrets when I say I don't like to hand sew. I have RA, and my hands about KILL me, so HAND sewing is pretty much out of the question. That said, I have an ENORMOUS basket in my bedroom full of clothing that needs, "just a stitch," or "I can still wear it, just sew on a few buttons where the pocket ripped off!" or "I'm sure you can sew the sleeve back on...It got caught in the truck door and I just ripped it off!" items.
So, when I saw the challenge I KNEW what I wanted to do. I sneaked into my bedroom and like a ninja, I skillfully removed the shirt from the basket and disappeared. Speedy the Cat didn't even blink an eye! (He was dozing on the TOP of the basket! I'm kinda afraid that he might tattle to my hubby that I CUT up his favorite shirt!)
I buttoned up the shirt and cut off the 2" area around the buttons! Next, I gathered the area and used glue dots to create semi pleats!
The image was stamped in Noir Black Palette Ink onto Very Vanilla and colored with copics. The image was cut out and adhered the Nesties with Foam tape.

Oh Faith........I'm sure your DH won't miss a little bit of the cuff.....I have bins of cuffs, pockets and scraps that I use in quilts....the front placket on that shirt has a set of buttons and button holes that can make a wonderful opening on the back OR front of pillow covers, purses, etc. Cut them with about 3 inches on each side and you've got it made. They are all lined up and fit just perfectly.....Now I'll have to look at my stash in a whole different way !.

Faith, I think this is a perfect use for a shirt that needs mending. At least you have a mending basket, it's not happening at my house.
I love the tartan pattern of the shirt fabric, The pleats and buttons look great and I love the gift box image. Great card my friend.....
