Fantastic challenge Judy!! I was a little scared at first... no Cuttlebug? No nesties? Eeek! But, I rediscovered all those old decorative scissors that I haven't pulled out in quite a while!
I downloaded this great DP from Sugarplum Paperie yesterday (thanks to Kristie/Kcherrie for sharing the freebie!)
Then I pulled out the Peace on Earth set from Our Daily Bread - I love this image, and thought it would be fun to cut out all the grass around it for some added texture. I colored the lion with markers, then stamped the image again on white and cut out the little lamb.
For the sun behind them...I created a mask by cutting a circle by tracing around a yogurt cup with my craft knife (no nesties!) and rubbing Only Orange and Yo-yo Yellow. I removed the mask and rubbed a little more yellow around the edges for a glow.
I cut a few strips of paper to wrap around the sentiment (thanks to Faith for this idea!) and used a metallic gold gel pen for some "rock" dots. The upper corners felt a little bare, so I cut a few triangles and layered them and added a brad to help frame the scene.

WOW! This is awesome! So many wonderful details! Fabulous way you did the grass, all the sponging, the dots and the work you did with the scissors. Gorgeous!

Oh my goodness!!! What a creation!!! I LOVE the jungle-ish feel you achieved with the sun and grass and LOVE your cut and popped animals -- the colors, texture, design -- it is all superb!!! What a great job!!!!
