This card was made for today's Limited Supply Challenge: Break Out the Sunscreen. We were to make a card with a summer theme. ONLY 3 layers plus the card base and limited embellishments.
So, I decided, with Speedy the Cat's INSISTENCE, to use the Poppy Patch stamp set. Let me explain why.... When I was a kid, my parents sent me to my grandmother's farm in the summers. Grandma had 150 acres, with fields of corn, beans, and hay. She also had 100+ head of cattle, goats, chickens, geese and CATS. However, my most fond memories of summer are about my grandmother's exquisite flower garden. There, she had a poppy field. I remember spending late afternoons watching the field move like an ocean wave in the breeze. To this day, the mention of "summer" brings the vision of my grandmother's poppy field.
Now you know why I chose Poppies for SUMMER! LOL!
There are only 4 layers to this card. I added a Gold edge with a Gold Paint Pen to the base and Black Linen oval. I then added dots and heavily sponged the Very Vanilla layer with Always Artichoke. I made clouds with a dauber, Tempting Turquoise and a scallop punch.
I also wanted to layer the sentiment, but couldn't add another layer. So, I used a Nestibilities die to cut out a half circle!
The image was embossed in gold and colored in with markers and an aqua pen. I stamped the card base with the background stamp from Thank You.
