Hi! This card was made for today's Limited Sketch Challenge: Oldies But Goodies...
I have no clue how in the world Speedy the Cat KNEW that I would be needing this tree stamp today. He put it in the bathroom sink! It is one of the first Treehouse Stamps I owned, and I seem to use it only for Sympathy cards.
Last night, Tropical Storm Fay really tore up my neighborhood. The power was out until this morning. And, there is debris, everywhere, including a big branch of our old oak on my camper...The van took a big hit, too...The neighbor's patio furniture ended up on the hood!
But, that wasn't the worst of it...Our neighbor's dog was under the furniture,on the hood of my van. Sadly, he had been gone for quite a while. I went to my neighbor, who was crying, and told him I found his beloved friend, and we buried him right beside my wonderful dog, Bear, in my garden.(We lost Bear 3 years ago...) They had been best friends for many years, it just seemed the right thing to do.
The dp is VERY old...At least 6 years...I dug it out of my bedroom closet.
The tree was stamped in Basic Black and colored in with SU! Pure Color Pencils. I used Odorless mineral spirits to blend the colors.
The ribbon was from a gift from my neighbor's "dog" to Bear...I just thought it was appropriate this morning....

What a beautiful card Faith. What a kind person you are for burying his dog next to yours. My prayers go out to you and your neighbor. I'm so glad you are safe.

It just amazes me how you continue to put out this beautiful work in spite of all that is going on around you. Losing a dog is very painful (I lost mine a few months ago.) Your card is very beautiful and will be appreciated, and was probably therapeutic to make. Hang in there!
I'm so sorry to hear about your fallen tree and saddened by your neighbor's loss. This is such a pretty card and love that you used that particular ribbon.

Oh this is perfect for this time! So sorry about your neighbor's dog and how unbelieveable he ended up on your hood! I can't even think about it! But I'm looking at the lovely tree and sentiment and it just makes me think of rest... so peaceful and serene. Lovely sympathy card!
