This is a card for today's Sketch Challenge, 155, for a very special friend who has a summer home on Cape Cod. It uses several old, retired stamp sets, but they are among my favorites. Can you guess what the sea turtles are stamped on? It's the lining from the inside of a security envelope! I thought it looked like sunlight reflecting on the bottom of the ocean, or maybe fishing nets. They are embossed with Green Pearl EP, with a sprinkle of Iridescent Ice EP, which gives them a lot of sparkle that doesn't show up well in the scan. The background panel is done in alcohol inks, and overstamped with Old World Map. The seagull on the piling is stamped on a piece of real weathered sea glass. Finally, on the base card, I used a Basic Brown inkpad and simply swiped it direct to paper to create a mottled, sandy looking background. Maybe someday I'll get some real decorative papers, but for the moment I don't have any, and so have to create my own!
Thanks for looking, and Happy Holidays Everyone!

Wonderful to see this beautiful creation pop up in the SC--so glad you could play--the work on this is just terrific and the stamped sea glass is such a gorgeous addition (would make a terrific pendant). Your artistry just shines, Maddy!! Off to check to see if I have any of those security envelopes--how cool!

Great personalized card for your Cape Cod friend, and so many wonderful creative details! Decorative papers are nice, but a well done handmade background is much more special, I think. Just slower. :o) TFS. Linda

Oh Maddy, I am delighted to see you stamping! This is absolutely stunning! Who needs decorative papers when you can recycle and make something this gorgeous?
