This is for Robin's fun "Southwestern" challenge. I have taken my inspiration from the colour palette of the southwest and two of Polly's recent challenges.
When I do extra messy and watery mixed media backgrounds, I do a full A4 sheet of cardstock and keep the left overs in my stash, in this case I used 4 glossy photo cards 4"x 6". The glossy card was dunked in a big puddle of mermaid lagoon Distress spray stain. I added some turquoise Dylusions spray to freshen up the puddle of ink when I dunked the last 2 pieces of glossy card.
To add texture to the panels, I flipped the flower stencil and smooched it into the card and I also cleaned the spatula that had remains of gesso and ink on it. As stand alone panels, neither of these would have looked good as cards, but I loved the colours and texture and thought I could die-cut some feathers.
Robins fun challenge is perfect opportunity to use the two left over panels and make a journal page.
I stamped this lovely Unity image (she is legless, just a top half) onto a large sheet of scrap paper and drew a long skirt in order to make a template. Then the challenge was to make the skirt using the 2 glossy card panels. The messy textured pattern on the glossy card didn't look right with straight cut edges, and then I remembered Polly's recent technique of tearing edges. Voila...thank's Pol!
I coloured Esmerelda with Prismacolour pencils, then highlighted her hair and blouse with Copics. Her skin was also done with pencils, then I gently wiped a foam blending tool with leftover walnut stain distress ink, then added a bit more pencil.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a change to get inky and join us.

WONDERFUL...delicious dress...so perfect in color and style for the southwest! I'm sure it would be a best seller in a wonderfully chic boutique tucked away in Scottsdale, Arizona! She needs a wonderful tool bracelet with turquoise stones to be sure or a belt with a tooled metal buckle set in turquoise stones! I'm sure the shop would have it to go with this marvelous piece of art!
