It ‘s my honor this month to be a guest designer for Loll and Bonnie’s fabulous CAS Mix Up challenge here, where the challenge for December is to use sponging, stamping, and one other media element (choices are listed on their blog). I was thrilled to hear the month’s theme because I LOVE sponging!
AND, this card also works for our WT612 challenge which is to use elements of fairy tales…Did you know that there is a Canadian fairy tale called “The Strange Tale of Caribou and Moose”? Well, you do now – the tale explains why moose are solitary animals and caribou travel in groups.
On my card front, I first splattered with masking fluid and let dry. Then I masked for the moon, sponged the sky with distress inks, then rubbed off the masking fluid splatters for the snow. I wasn’t completely satisfied, so then I splattered some additional diluted white acrylic paint. Separately, I die cut and sponged the trees and the moose, and added some sparkle with the Spectrum Noir glitter pen, which of course does not show well in the photo. Die cut my “hill”, stamped the sentiment and assembled. I used dimensional tape to attach the hill, which gives the card some great dimension.
