This is the card I made for the MMTPT340 challenge "Oh My, This Just Isn't Right; The Forest Shouldn't be This Quiet" - Bring birds, bees, rabbits, turtles and squirrels. Bring dragonflies, and butterflies too. We need some of natures harmony. Our cards this week are going to a spiritual young man who loves the outdoors, animals and music. He suffered a "Neurological Event" of unknown cause (so far) and was left having to relearn how to walk, write, etcall over again.
It is also for Sabrina's WT517 challenge "From the Kitchen with Love" - making cards which use something from the kitchen, and for Sketch Challenge 526.
Although deer weren't specifically mentioned, that's what I always think of when someone mentions forest creatures, so that's the direction I went.
My background was watercolored with neon food colors, and I will tell you that they are definitely bright! They don't get lighter as they dry like watercolor does. This was almost too bright, so after stamping and adding a touch of green to the trees, I wrapped the piece in vellum. I really like the dreamy quality it imparts.
The dark blue panel was embossed with a music ef and backed with a matching piece cut from craft foam. When I wrapped the twine around it, it created a bump I didn't like, so I attached it to the base with black foam tape, leaving a channel where the twine is.
Because of all the texture on the front from the embossing and the twine, I attached the focal with Scrap Dots, a dimensional adhesive. The deer were cut from a piece of cork that had been embossed with a woodgrain folder and sponged with Distress Tea Dye. I also cut craft foam bases for the deer and attached cork to foam with Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue. They are also adhered to the card front with Scrap Dots.
I'm really quite pleased with the way this turned out, and hope Noah will enjoy it.
As always, thanks for looking!
