This card was made for two challenges: F4A215 Tone on Tone challenge (4/4/14) and the WT473 New Beginnings challenge (4/3/14). The first challenge was to make a card with at least 2 layers of exactly the same color on top of each other (not separated by other colors.) The second challenge was to use something that was new & unused on your card; that something was to be at least a month old.
The Tone-on-Tone challenge was just what I needed to give me direction for a fish-oriented card that I was wanting to make for fishing friend of my husband. I started with my favorite trout, stamped on a wood veneer business card. Colors were applied with an aqua brush and ink from a variety of Memento cubes. To finish, I brushed a Wink of Stella clear glitter all over the body of the fish to make it look like the sun was glistening on wet scales and sponged the edge of the wood with a soft wheat colored ink. The tone-on-tone layers under the fish looked too clean and tidy for this rustic card, so I distressed the edges with a finger nail & sponged the edges to emphasize the roughness.
The parts of this card that qualified for the New Beginnings Challenge were the pine branch die cuts and the dark brown textured cardstock. The pine branch die had been in my stash, unused, for 1 1/2 years!!!! Can't believe I waited this long to use it; I really like the open, graceful look of the needles.
It was kind of you to take the time to look at my leaping trout. Thanks for stopping by!
