WooHoo it's that fun time of the month where we tickle a teapotter. It was a great little story this week that sees us bringing hay, grain and other goodies for the animals at Old MacStampers farm. In order to protect all the produce Sydney the scarecrow has moved into to Old Macs farm for a week or two.
You will see in the picture that Sydney is surrounded by magnificent sunflowers and corn stalks....hmmm I will be putting a call through to the Craft Police after I upload this....when I got up this morning it looked like Curt and his cousins and a few NZ sheep had trampled through the corn fields.
I jest, it is nothing that sinister. Quite simply put, the the height of the flowers and stalks were too high for the height of the "step" they are attached to. The card is a stair step, with steps on either side (2" wide"). To give strength to the corn stalks I coloured them outside the line in a grey copic and then fussy cut - in hindsight that didn't help at all.
To fix the card I removed all the flowers and corn, adhered them to acetate (I call acetate "mothers little helper"). You might notice the little butterfly on the right hand side, it looks like it is flying but it is actually right on the edge of the acetate.
All of the images are from a digi set by Scrappin Doodles. I haven't improved with copics yet so I paper pieced young Sydney. The flowers were done using one layer Tim Holtz distress ink, followed by one yellow copic, followed by 42,000 coats of every ink I own to get the desired effect LOL.
I added a liquid pearls to the hay bails and a piece of raffia to Syds hat, oh and some liquid pearls as buttons.
Regarding mothers little helper (aka acetate). I have several acetate squares cut out in card sizes and step card panel sizes. When selecting dp, I lay the acetate over the top of the paper to make the most out of the pattern with out having to guess. I also use it as a background sheet for inking and painting, windows, strengthening small fussy cut pieces, etc.
Thanks for looking ladies and have a wonderful week.
