Hi! This card fits today's Inspiration Challenge: Barbie Collectibles. I chose THIS BARBIE's outfit as inspiration. I love this color combo!
Last spring, when the discussion about upcoming stamp sets for this JANUARY began, the first thing our Creative Director, (my mother, who has since passed away), mentioned was Pansies. I shrugged and said, "But....I'm having trouble drawing them." She politely said, "Take a CLASS!" Oh, the laughs around that board room table could be heard for miles! I was REALLY embarrassed, and didn't want to mention that SHE could have drawn them with her eyes closed....
So...off to a class taught by a Scientific Botanical Artist. I had a BLAST! He taught a type of "dot" shading method, that I had already used before, but never mastered. I look at flower drawings and see it used, often. However, he mentioned that I should try this same method with other genre. Well...I must say, that was the best course I've ever taken, and I'm truly thankful Mother had put me on the spot that afternoon.
The pansy image was stamped in Adirondack's Pitch Black and colored in with Copics. Next, I cut out the image and placed it on the focal panel. I stamped the sentiment and ladybug and then colored the ladybug with Copics and used a sponge to "darken" the circle."
Finished card size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Total time to complete: about 45 minutes.
