Hi! This card was made for today's Clean And Simple Challenge: New York, New York and Technique Lover's Challenge: Childhood Memories.
Yesterday was a better day at my house. Unfortunately, I broke down in TEARS twice on the phone with my friends over the loss of Dog. So, when I saw the Challenge: Childhood memories, I immediately thought of the summers I spent on my grandmother's farm when I was a kid. Grandma had a FABULOUS pond that was full of cat tails, frogs, SNAKES, and BUGS! I LOVED it! (Yep, total Tom Boy!) I had a semi-relative named Booger who was a playmate. He was 7, I was 8 the first summer I spent there. We would meet early in the morning and grab the slop buckets, feed the hogs, water the steers, and RUN down to the pond. We'd stay there trying to catch frogs, chase snakes and capture bugs to feed the frogs. Those 5 summers were the best of my life.
The next summer, my OTHER grandmother died. My aunt and uncle picked me up and MADE me go with them on a trip to New York City. The entire trip is still a blur to me. I mostly remember the Central Park Zoo and the amphibian display. I stared at the frogs and kept thinking that I wished I was back on the farm with Booger and Grandma.
So, this card fits both challenges. I stamped the cat tails and frog in Espresso. I colored in the cat tails with Memento markers and sponged in Seascape for water and the sky. I sponged Palette inks on the frog.
Finished card size: 4 1/2" square
Total Time to Complete: 34 minutes

Oh, I love your story about your summers as a child! Your card is perfect for that. What a blessing that you could make a wonderful and cheery card despite your sadness! Cardmaking is therapy isn't it?
