"The Sound of Music" is on this evening Easter Sunday on ABC Family Channel. A wonderful movie for all ages.
I recently reviewed the film "The Sound of Music". This film was a favorite when I was a child. I was moved to create this card, not to offend, I used its creation to try to sort out in my own mind and heart what the world went through during that difficult time. The film has a powerful message of hope, desperation, and help through self-sacrifice. I strongly recommend dusting it off and viewing it with your family.

Hi....I want to say I am sorry a faction of people chose to attack you and your art. To me that is totally out of line. I love what Catherine just said "It's such a shame that people can be so ignorant as to object to an icon, and not realise that they're behaviour is exactly what the "objectionable" icon symbolises."
And as Julie said also...yes avant garde is a good description....something different.....sometimes more of the same is a tad dulling! Vive la difference!
I love your work. Please stay and continue creating. Wish I could be half as good!

I love this piece because it did exactly what "art" is supposed to do: it evoked an emotion from its viewers. What people misunderstand about art, in my opinion, is that the emotion good art evokes isn't always a positive one. Van Gogh's Potato Eaters shouldn't make you smile, but no one can deny its artistic quality. Picasso's Guernica is soaked in ugly history but no one denounces that. And your piece, to me, captures the harsh and bitter irony that goes with a period of ugliness in history that we can't deny today because like it or not, it shaped us into who we are today as a society. I think all your work is awesome, please keep it up. It is refreshing to see an edgier take on our craft. Thanks for sharing.

I've read through your comments, and I saw one that so reflected my sentiments: if you cant say something nice about something, dont say anything at all.
For a person so new to this community, you sure have managed to ruffle hundreds of feathers.

this card is evocative and thought-provoking...it is not 'cutesy' or 'adorable'...luckily art doesn't have to fit into one leetle tiny box to earn that title.
funny thing is, if the swastika in the upper right hand corner had been a butterfly or an old clock face instead, for instance, there would have been not a whit of controversy about it.
i really like this card, the collage work, color choices, ephemera, embellishments, and subject matter.
Art is truly good and truly 'true' when it strikes a chord in you immediately...this one did that for me...thank you for sharing it with us!
