I'm really happy with how this card turned out, but it certainly was a journey!
I recently got a sheet of cut apart windows from Alchemy of Art. This one looked like it was reflecting dawn light, so I thought it would make a good centerpiece. Now I just needed to create my ombre.
I haven't done any blending for a long time, so this took a bit of experimentation. First, I tried using pigment ink, only to discover that the Color Box Petal Point Pads which I bought nearly twenty years ago don't work very well anymore. Who would have thought? LOL!
My next attempt involved using watercolors. Unfortunately, I don't have any watercolor paper, and my cardstock buckled really badly.
Finally, I pulled out my Prismacolor pencils. I started by doing a gradient of pinks from light to dark. But that didn't quite evoke dawn for me. So I added a gradient of oranges, light to dark, over the pinks. And I thought that looked good.
I could have stopped there. I probably should have stopped there. But I wanted my dawn to have some shimmer. So I brushed on a little Lumiere Halo Pink Gold paint. And...it completely obscured all the pencil coloring. It created a pretty background, which I will definitely use for something else, but it doesn't fit the parameters of this challenge.
Fortunately, now that had some idea what I was doing, it didn't take long to recreate my pencil coloring on a new piece of cardstock. And this time I brushed it with peach metallic watercolor. The photo doesn't really show it, but it added a lovely shimmer.
Once that was pressed and dried, I layered it on some white and pink cardstock. Then I glued down all the collage elements. The sentiment was sent to me a long time ago by a crafting friend. As a finishing touch, I added gems to the flower centers, and a couple of pink sequins.
I feel so much compassion for Theresa. I can only imagine what she must be going through, and I hope our cards lift her spirits, if only for a moment.
