Freedom of speech.....an easy but tricky thing these days. With it comes responsibility, I feel. Social media has certainly changed how we view freedom of speech. I certainly have stuck my mouth out and been attacked, called unspeakable things, just because I expressed an opinion, I didn't attack another's opinion. But, such is life. I wish I had had a little more time with this, there is more I'd like to do with it, but I'm again heading out of town, probably all next week. I'm so popular, I have so many invitations.
If there is one place where I feel very at home, it's the freedom of expression and speech through the arts. There should never be banned books, banned plays, banned art. I think Ai Wei Wei said it well; he certainly knows what it is like to have his speech and expression suppressed.
I was looking through a local magazine and found an article on how the arts are navigating through the uncertainly since March of 2020. I cut out a picture of a play that was performed in Milwaukee recently, don't know the play, don't remember the theater venue. And I'm sure the person speaking is not saying those words to the man on the left...can you imagine what he is saying????
I used a gel print that was less than what I wanted, a brayer off piece and a new set of thought bubble dies. Of course I would take this challenge seriously, because that is what I do. You know me. Thanks, Toni. This is also for the second to last ABC15 challenge-Y for your choice of technique.
