I am sooooo late to the Tickle a Teapotter party. I made this before going away, but I somehow scrambled the photo and it uploaded like a mathematical formula!
The background is a bi-product of backgrounds I have made in my journal. Sometimes I get a bit carried away with the amount of paint/ink/water etc and I've found the best way to mop it all up is to place an A4 sheet of cardstock over the book page and smoosh it around a bit. You end up with book pages and a bonus A4 sheet to turn into cards.
The feather is diecut from a failed stamped dress, you can see a hint of the stamp outline at the top of her tail feather.
The circle doodle things are from a fun stamp set by Carabella Studios, unfortunately the paint sucked the life out of the white stamping, so I used a white gel pen and scribbled over the top of the stamping.
I drew fine white lines randomly on the card so the stamping now looked like it was meant to be freehand.
After fussy cutting, I adhered the mermaid using a glue stick, then added liquid pearls and sequins. The tail feather just has a small amount of glue stick down the centre so the recipient can foof up the sides of her tail (and hair).
Glue sticks are fabulous on open or intricate dies as they dry matt and clear.
This card is much brighter and richer in real life, apart from my lack of camera skills, I think the metallic paint plays tricks with the light. This is currently in the mail and with any luck she will arrive this year!
