I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday challenge. Pat is our hostess this week and she chose a wonderful theme of "Happy Songs." Since the card I was intending to make is going to someone who is dealing with cancer, I wanted to make it meaningful for that. When I was dealing with cancer, the Gladys Knight song, "I Hope You Dance" really struck a cord with me because it is about those days when you really want to give up because you don't think you have it in, but really, you do. And not only can you do it, but you can dance while doing it! Very powerful stuff. I did not have any clue how to make a card for this song though until I saw a card that Christina Griffiths made. This stamp is actually just the shoes and the ankles. But Christina added more to the legs and drew in a skirt. I loved her card immediately, but freehand drawing? Not this girl. Well, I gave it a go because it is for someone really special. It took a few tries with a pencil before I was ready to use the micron pen, but I eventually got it. Whew! This looked like a hot mess almost until the very end, when miraculously, it all came together, thankfully. The inside sentiment says, "We can't always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it." I am also entering this card into the Alphabet Challenge for the letter K for keyboard. I wish Heidi all the best as she continues on this difficult journey. Thanks for looking today. ~Karen.

Karen, you made the most perfect card for Heidi. And, I wish I could draw as well as you have on this card. I cannot draw a thing. This is just an awesome card in so many ways.

Karen, you are truly amazing! The scene you created, adding the dress and pants including pleats and pinstripes, is so well done in conjunction with the theme of the card. Even more importantly though, is the intent with which you put this whole card together for Heidi, sending a message of hope and strength. Beautifully done!!
