For Lisas teapot challenge- wide open range
For Sabrinas way to use it- star quality
For Shirleys free for all- Spring or Easter
Its been a while since making a card as my mojo has been lost within depths of snow weve endured in the Midwest this winter.
When Lisas teapot challenge mentioned southwestern flair for Sandy & Dave, a desert scene warmed my heart!!
I literally searched YouTube on how to draw a desert scene, and CASd the video.
I gesso,d White CS, sketched the scene with black Copic marker, then added oil pastels.
I didnt have good luck blending the colors with my finger or a baby wipe, and found that Q-tips worked like a charm for a more blended look. The scene reminded me of a cartoon.
To make it more realistic I added die cut stars in the dawn sky for Sabrinas, and dimensional blooming flower with a tiny pompon inside it for Shirleys Spring Theme.
Finished with stamping the encouraging sentiment.
Thanks ladies for the inspirations!

Yay you're back!!! You watched a YouTube and created this fabulous scene....I am in awe of your talent Jeannie. Your scene is fabulous and I love the how you coloured. I'm not familiar with those oil pastels...sounds difficult to me, but they are clearly magic in your hands.

Jeannie, what a stunning southwestern card this is for Sandy and Dave- they are going to love this! I am so impressed you drew this wonderful desert scene yourself. I so admire people who can draw entire scenes like this. The oil pastels really give that wonderful soft look I love so much and they also give the feeling of heat. The 3D flower on the cactus is such a terrific finishing touch, as are the stars and this fabulous sentiment. Hopefully, we are done with all the snow in the midwest now. ~Karen.
