This is for Robins fun Free 4 All challenge...Baby it's cold outside. My card was inspired by the movie Frozen. If Elsa and Anna's mum hadn't been bumped off in the first five minutes of the movie, I rather think this is what she might look like.
I made the background on a full A4 sheet of smooth white cardstock. I don't own a hazmat suit or breathing apparatus, so I created this background outside.
My masking fluid has an odour that will outlast time and it is super thick and really hard to apply. I flicked the masking fluid onto the cardstock hoping for delicate little drops - it looked more like a seagul flew over and ....well I probably don't need to say anymore.
Next step was to sprinkle black Brusho powder and a blue Colour Busrt powder all over the cardstock. I then propped the sheet up against a tree in landscape orientation, then squirted on heaps of water along the top edge of the cardstock (nozzle on spritzer set to "squirt", not "spray" and let the water dribble down the card.
After the cardstock was completely dry, I rubbed the masking fluid off. The big blobs of white looked ok so I didn't have to go to Plan B, which would have been sponging on some blue distress inks.
Mrs. Frozen is a Digi image by Molly Harrison, she is printed into regular copy paper then coloured with Prismacolour Pencils, Zest it pencil blend and a few flicks of a Copic marker.
White paint and white pencils were used to brighten up parts of her hair. Next step was to fussy cut her and adhere her to the background, ensuring that the entire image was covered with a glue stick (this helps prevent air bubbles).
Once the card was bone dry, I trimmed the panel to size and adhered it to a card base. Finish by doodling a border and adding a gazillion liquid pearls.
NOTES: To work out the best position for the image, I fussy cut the image and just using static electricity, make the image cling to a 5" X 7" piece of acetate.
Move the acetate around the A4 background sheet and work out where the best colour or effect is. I actually rotated the card stock as the intensity of the colour looked better at the bottom.
I hope you get a chance to join in. We are still away on our camping trip. DH is a keeper, we purposely set up camp in this town so I could visit Splitcoaststamperville for a few days. Can't wait to catch up with everyone.

This image and background are so striking and bold! Mrs. Frozen is colored with such finesse. I really appreciate your description of making the background. It is a messy business but with such fantastic results - so worth it!

Susie, I believe you achieved the "look" of Elsa and Anna's mum perfectly. Beautiful pencil work and shading. And the background is the "icing" on this gorgeous piece of work!
