It's time for a new Color Challenge Barbara is hosting this week and she has chosen Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, and Tranquil Tide, with the dessert option to make a one layer card. Well that dessert option was a little tricky. I did get it done in a fashion but technically it's not a "true" one layer card.
After heat embossing the large hydrangea image on a panel of watercolor paper, I colored each petal first with Sweet Sugarplum, then when back with a bit of Rich Razzleberry at the base of each petal, then used clear water to draw the color out. I wasn't looking to perfectly blend the inks, instead let the water carry the 2nd color into each petal. I realize in real life there are no hydrangeas in this shade of purple, but I am exercising a bit of artistic license ;-). When the petals dried, metallic gold watercolor paint was added to the flower centers and a wash of Tranquil Tide lightly painted around the flower.
After stamping the sentiment, a Corner Round punch was used on the corner of both the panel and the card base, then the panel was adhered directly to the base and wrapped with some Rich Razzleberry cotton ribbon. Sequins finished things off.
Thanks so much for looking, I hope you'll be able to join us for the Color Challenge this week!
