I am entering this card into the Ways to Use it Challenge and the Alphabet Challenge for the letter T. For the Ways to Use it Challenge, Carla chose the theme "It's About Time." I immediately thought of my grandparent's cuckoo clock. That thing woke me up for years and now I would give anything to hear it again. Time is the letter T for the Alphabet challenge. Making this clock entirely from scratch was a labor of love. All the layers were carefully cut on my trimmer and by hand using very vanilla cardstock. Then all the layers were sponged with many layers of TH Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Vintage photo inks until the right color was achieved. Once the right shade was achieved, I stamped each piece using the Heidi Swapp woodgrain stamp in my MISTI tool. The clock face was heat embossed using black EP and the face was sponged with antique linen ink. When the clock was assembled, I placed a tag die down and using an exacto knife, cut the opening for the door. The leaves and lower detail piece were die cut, sponged and glued in their appropriate places. The little cuckoo birds were stamped and colored. One bird is popped up on a dimensional so it looks like it is cuckooing. By this time I was not at all happy with this clock. There was something wrong and I had no idea what it was and my shoulder hurt from all the sponging. Grrr. I went to bed and slept on in. Thanks to my alpha sister Shirl for sending me a link to a cuckoo clock that solved my dilemma- the clock was missing the bird at the very top (I just had the maple leaf there). The bird was cut on the cricut, sponged and glued into place and I am a happy girl again. This card is going to a dear friend who will be married 56 years the end of January. Thanks for looking today and Happy New Year's everyone! ~Karen.

Wow, Karen, that clock is amazing! It reminds me of the clock my parents had - except theirs didn't work. I can visit that one at my brother's house though. I am amazed at this clock you created. It is so wonderful and I love the story about your grandparents' clock.

So pretty and elegant! Love your handcrafted creation! I am sure your attention to detail will not go unnoticed. I especially like the tiny blue bird - he adds that whimsical note.
