This is Lois' last week as hostess over at CCEE Stampers, being the last Thursday of the month. She asks us to celebrate Cherry Jubilee Day by making a card with cherries on it; or, if you don't have any cherries, any fruit. I had to look up Cherries Jubilee to find out what it was! We do get a few fruiting cherry trees here, but don't really have the climate for them, and imported cherries are always on the expensive side. I couldn't find any in my stamps either, or the DP I knew I used to have. But we do grow good pears here, and...I have several pear stamps .
Frantic Stamper pear, stamped off and stamped again with Versafine Black on watercolour paper, then coloured with pencils. I masked it off and stamped the text from French Foliage, again stamping off once. Sponged the bottom with browns and a little green, then stippled brown all over. With the mask still in place, I stamped the Marble Cells background stamp from Serendipity in Wild Honey. I used Fiskars corner punch, and added some detail with a gold gel pen to the green mat layer. To finish it I added some wood-effect sequins, also from Serendipity.
For the next panel, I used the same Serendipity stamp, stamping in Forest Moss and sponging the edges a little with Wild Honey.
For the base, I used a piece of paper which had been used to mop up some green inks à la wrinkle free distress, and did a stencil monoprint with brown ink and TCW's Navaho stencil. I spattered some gold acrylic paint over it, and when that was dry, sponged the edges with Walnut Stain. To finish off, I added some Aged Teal and metallic chunky EP.
The pear panel is up on foam tape, and I tied some gold cord around the next panel.
The current challenge over on the Serendipity Stamps blog is "backgrounds" - and as well as my mixed media base background, I used Marble Cells to stamp the background behind the pears.
