This week's CAS challenge is to CASE an Alumni CAS DT; I chose Brenda (tessaduck) to feature this week.
Brenda is a talented CAS artist using inlays and die embossing to create many of her masterpieces! I believe my first memory of meeting Brenda online was when we both played in the March 2012 VSN. The moment stands out to me because we both improvised in showing "gears" on our cards and I LOVED how she created hers.
Brenda has since become a good friend. She shares her thoughts on stamping purchases, sends me RAKs and responds kindly to my panicked emails! Brenda reminds me often to BREATHE.
For my card I used the candle die cut that Brenda gifted me! I decided to spritz the white die cut with gold and that's when disaster struck! I spritzed the die cut in a box that had previously been used to spritz something green! When I sprayed the gold on the candles it activated the green and oh dear, there was green on the edges of two candles and a few leaves!
My first thought was to trash the die cut but it was the only one I had and it looked rather pretty with the bits of green, so I thought, what would Susie Australia do? I love Susie's descriptions of her masterful rescues, so inspired, I placed the die cut back in the box and with my finger added more green in a few places to make it look like I created a two tone candle centerpiece on purpose!

What a great save! When disaster strikes my crafting again (and it will), I'll keep this and Susie Australia in mind. This turned out to be a gorgeous card and it I'm glad the garbage bin didn't get to eat it.

Bravo! You pulled it off with grace and beauty! I would have never known had you not told us. In fact, I like the green bits because it reminds me of green tint on old gold and copper. It's absolutely perfect, and a wonderful tribute to Brenda. I love the stories of kindness and friendship too. Lovely card, Angie.

You are sweet. I think you " fixed " this so well, wouldn't have noticed unless for reading this. those candles are so pretty that die cut and how you used them. I often too think of Susie when things go awry...she is another inspirational friend, and does wonderful work just like you...very pretty...TFS..:0)
