For today's Things That Fly MIX66 challenge, which, for birds at least, combines wonderfully with the Wood You Like a Challenge theme of the F4A challenge.
I gave Foxy Oxi another go, inspired by a card I saw this week when I was on gallery mod duty. As with previous attempts, the result on mine is negligible. I don't know if what I am using as the nearest thing I can find to Oxi-Clean isn't strong enough...Anyway, by the time I got back from a trip to town, it gave me a lovely woody weathered piece to use for my background!
I'd misted watercolour paper, dabbed re-inkers over it and sprinkled with the Oxi-Clean substitute. When I got home it was nicely dry, so I wiped off all the crystals and stamped it with Hardwood in Walnut Stain. Trimmed it down and added it to a base sponged with Peeled Paint distress stain and stamped with Hardwood.
It's weird, because in real life the sentiment, which was embossed with clear EP, stands out more than the music notes which weren't. Hmm....
Because I wasn't thinking things through, my music notes and sentiment were on the same side of the card so I added a leaf to balance things out, but then with my coloured bird (thank you, Robin!!), all my colour is one one side. I should have had my branch running in the opposite direction, but I don't have time to start again and overall I quite like this card. The cork branch was gessoed and stamped with Hardwood because I didn't like the plain cork against my background, but since it's been on my desk from last week I wanted to use it up before it got damaged.
