What a wonderful gallery our latest FS has! I had such a great time perusing her work...I chose Cary's
AUG06VSNS. There are so many elements I liked about her card, the delightful 'Patterns of Friendship' set, the square shape, her ladies all decked out (gloves included). I kept all those elements, but slanted my image, drug out my sewing machine, tore up my studio searching for an actual pattern, used a button instead of a buckle.
My card actually is a trip down memory lane this Sunday. These ladies remind me of the mother of my heart. She loves the color red and ladybugs. And she sewed many, many colors for us girls. I added the word beloved in the upper corner for that is just what she is to me!
The Tim Holtz on the edge die (Sewing) was cut from a Simplicity Pattern TODDLER Boys size 4 from the early '60's. The piece I braved to use had been taped when it had torn in several places with the old cellophane tape that of course yellowed so much! I thought it would be so very cool to use that die with the pattern. I wound turquoise thread onto the spool and added the vintage glass ladybug button. The sewing is typical for me...all outside the lines and box! But I rather like it.
And to Cary, Miss Minx...I hope you have a lovely week in the SCS spotlight...you have blessed me with thoughtful comments on my work and I have been inspired by yours.
Thanks so much for the gift of your comments...I am off racing to meet eldest son for a movie and tea.....
back later to see all the spectacular creation in the gallery
