I am an angel from heaven above
My heart is filled with abiding love
IÂ’m here to protect children from evil things
By giving them shelter under my wings
I may look different than other angels youÂ’ve seen
In the movies, on the TV or even in magazines
But things are not always as they seem to be
You canÂ’t always believe what your eyes see
Do not judge me as I appear
Do not laugh, or point or stare
Allow me to spread my wings of love
As I was sent from Heaven above
Let me shelter the children in harmÂ’s way
For always and ever, beginning today
I was inspired to make this card and write this poem by the following old photo I saw on last Saturday's IC353 challenge website:
Today's CAS187 challenge, color blocking, provided me the opportunity to make a grungy block background to showcase my stamps. I hope you like it.
THANKS for looking and any comment you care to leave!
Stamps: Stampotique, PTI, SU (bats stamped and cut out for wings-can't remember name of set)
Paper: Michael's Valu-Pack card base, brown paper bag (fence)
Ink: SU pad + markers, Ranger di pads
Accessories: Taylored Expressions die, brown paper bag
NOTE RE COLOR BLOCKS: To get the grungy look, for each block, I "loosely" (no adhesive) masked the inside area with c.s. Next, I laid the ink pad on the card. I put varying pressure on the pad to make some areas light, some dark. With a light touch, I "wiggled" the pad a bit. Then I put slight pressure on the pad and dragged it off the edge. After I made both blocks, I used the edge of the pad to darken the edges of the blocks, taking special care to not make them perfect as I was trying to leave them on the grungy side.
I'm going to be setting up my blog soon and all this type of info, as well as, some picture tutorials will be on it. I hope once I set it up, you will join me.
