Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for this week is to make your own embellishment, (dye your own seam binding, make your own flowers, make your own buttons or stickpins and etc.) on your creation. See all the details Saturday, October 8, 2011 ODBD's Design Blog and use the keyword ODBDSLC79 so we can enjoy your creations too! Make certain you link your card to the blog.
This week I chose a Scripture from a newly released set, Christmas Door. I wanted to show how versatile this set is by using the Scripture for something other than Christmas.
My hand made embellishments are the flowers and stick pin. I am amazed every time I have the chance to watch my sweet friend Tosha (Stamps4funinCa) stamp. Her skills are incredible, and she taught me how to make flowers using a MS punch. (The one I use looks like a small four leaf clover) Each bloom takes two punches, and I sponge yellow in the centers. Scoring to add veins to the petals before placing a zot between the off-set centers, I use a skewer to press them together on a soft surface which forces the petals to come up. Now there is a small well in the center, and I add a dot of Crystal Effects, and cover it with small gold beads. Once dry, the blooms are applied to the card with a hot glue gun, and are surrounded with leaves from the MS Branch Punch and Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die cut. The embossed panel in the background uses Spellbinders Fleur di lis Rectangles as a frame.
Thanks for looking. This card is special to me because it reminds me of my mom, who loved magnolias. I added the last bit of my favorite lace, because I think she would like that too.

Wow so gorgeous. I love the you showed the versatility of the stamp set. It so easy to get stuck in one train of thought when the scripture is within a set and think it can only be used for that purpose. Your flowers are stunning. I love the gold beaded centers. That piece of crocheted lace is so beautiful and "vintagey". I love the stitching you added too.
