I wanted to get started on my Father's Day card for my dad today. I used today's Ways to Use It challenge, WT272, Paint: to use any kind of paint (acrylics, tempera, watercolors, paint dabbers, crackle paint--anything except painting with ink). I first tried the Acrylic Smash technique, but didn't have the right type of ink (no acrylics) so it didn't go very well. Then I decided to just go with painting directly on card stock with poster paint. That made a nicely textured sky background!
I also used the sketch from today's Limelight Papercrafts Challenge, LLPC048, along with the challenge to use "fuzz and fluff" in your card. I first tried making fuzzy clouds with Fun Flock, but I wasn't able to get a thick enough layer of flock to make the clouds stand out and they looked pretty wimpy. So, in today's second "do-over" I did some freehand clipping with scraps of white felt to form my fluffy clouds. Much better!!
My parents have always been fascinated by hot air balloons, so I think my dad will get a real kick out of this card for Father's Day.
