This is my card for today's TLC, Faux Mosaic. Would you believe, I've never done this with paper before. I've often done it making my tiles by tearing shrink plastic and then embossing the tiles while they were still warm after shrinking. That inevitably gives quite irregular shaped tiles. This one in my gallery here has the tiles - Wedding tiles by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers - but it's one of the times that I didn't use microbeads or EP to fill the gaps.
So, today I used paper and fairly regularly shaped squares.
The base is matt gold card. The next layer is Joanna Sheen marbled paper. The main layer is polished stone, stamped on with a script stamp from HA, and with black EP in between the tiles. I used Butterscotch, Rust, Caramel and Gold Mixatives for the Polished Stone. Then I made a paper flower using mulberry paper - I drew circles on it with a wet brush and then tore them out. I gathered it up a bit in the centre with a needle, then added a little shell and some black Stickles. I used Crackle Accents on the shell, but they haven't cracked yet. The *stem* is fine gauge gold wire wrapped around florists wire and curled up a bit, with 2 Prima leaves. I added some pewter snaps in two corners, and some black photo corners in the other two, embossed and wiped with a gold ink pad.
