There were some amazing cakes on display for our inspiration this morning. The only thing is -I really hate that fondant icing and the thought of that amount of sugar brings back memories of decorating wedding cakes and all that sugar and sweetness. It's too early in the morning for that, especially as we were both woken out of deep sleep by the plumber looking for directions. That's OK, I'd rather have heat and a bit less sleep! But it did mean my imagination is only in first gear, and I do have another project to work on today, so I made a very simple cake based on this card here - http://cakenouveau.com/pics/cake108b.jpg. If the link doesn't work, it was the bottom left-hand corner on page one. I thought it would make a good masculine birthday card. It also reminds me so much of all the graphic design on my Kiss Me Kate CD that I think I will have to get it out and have a listen.
I stamped Print Pattern in black on white and covered a base card with it. I covered the top half with a turquoise / aqua Core'dinations card, and drew a line of silver Liquid Pearls across. I tried icing the way I would a cake, looped back on itself, to better represent the icing on the cake, but the Pearls are too liquid for that . I stamped a HA sentiment for the record label, and punched out a large black circle for the record. I don't think you can see, but I drew concentric lines in pencil to mark the record. Then it was just a case of punching large and small circles in black and white and sticking everything down. The LP is up on dimensionals, and looking at the photo maybe I need to edge it with silver or something, though in real life it does stand out more than it does in the photo.
TFL, and thanks Stef for a fun site to look at this morning. So many possibilities there, so little time!

This is just so perfect, Sabrina. I kept looking at that cake, too, but just couldnt figure out how to do it. Good thing, I would have been embarrassed if I had uploaded it and then saw what you did!
