I wanted to show who the people in the photo were that are important to my family, but I didn't want to do that in the journaling. So, I used the `colour isolation' technique. This was my first time doing that, and I was surprised by easy it was.
I could not find the tutorial I used for this technique, so here's the quick and dirty:
1. leave the colour picture as the background layer.
2. Copy the background layer.
3. Then make sure your top copy is highlighted and remove the colour from it. PSE directions: Along the top bar, click on `Enhance', then `adjust colour', then `remove colour'. The colpy will become B&W and the background layer will retain it's colour.
4. Take your eraser from the left hand side (PSE)and use it to erase the black and white from the top layer and then the colour will come through from the background layer.
