I made this for a Monday challenge with a small group of SCS friends. We were to make a card with kraft and pastels. First off I was thinking pastel colors as in card stock, last night I found out pastels means chalks (oh brother!)
This is my story!
1. OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! What a nightmare this was for me! This is the first time I went from Plan B all the way through the alphabet!
2. This was the point that I was in control. I took this little kraft notebook I had and masked and stamped the flowers.
3. This is where I was sorta still in control. I chalked the flowers which was sorta okay, I chalked the flower centers which was sorta okay. I tried to chalk the background...used a little red, covered up that big mistake with orange, covered that up with tan, covered that up with brown, covered that up with black. Not okay!
4. This is where I was totally out of control! I had to cover up the entire mess so thought maybe my glimmer mist would do something. I tried to daub it on, tried several different colors (copper, then coffee shop, then tiger lily) Yikes, made it way worse. Then I began to think, this thing is going in the trash so who cares! I sprayed the entire thing with Tiger Lily Glimmer Mist which was sorta sparkley but the flower petal color was completely gone.
5. Then I took my water pen, that sorta brought out the color until it dried. Then I pulled out a yellow marker, that ruined my yellow marker. I had only one more thing to try. Yellow acrylic paint! At least they look like flowers now and I can live with it!
6. Note to fellow group members. Don't even go there! There is chalk on this thing!

I am glad you shared your story so I know what not to do...but all those steps must have given this more depth and character....cause it is just so pretty!! Love the gingham and the button and raffia...your little project is too fun! So what if you can only mutter in monosyallbles now? We'll miss your stories, but you can still stamp!

Spectacular! The story and the card!!!! We all can learn from your perseverance, especially if we could count on the results being this terrific. The sunflowers are gorgeous....perfect accents in the raffia and ribbon.

I think this is lovely --- a person needs layers to have some depth to their personality --- your notebook has layers (of chalk, paint, misty stuff, etc.) so it has personality too!! LOL
Love the story and this is an adorable notebook. (I agree about the name -- chalk should be CHALK).

Your kraft notebook is really pretty. All your struggles were worth the final product. At least for all of us anyway. You girls do such fun things with your challenges. I'm glad you are all doing them again after the holidays.

It really is beautiful; love the sunflowers, the raffia and button. Remember: It's a shallow life that doesn't give a person a few scars. ~ Garrison Keillor

Wait a minute here, I thought stamping was supposed to keep us OUT of therapy--looks like you need some double sessions. Or perhaps--just a day off of work to stamp a NON-challenge project! I will even sign a note for you--I use to have a MD after my name (middle and last initial).
I actually think this is REALLY cool! I love how the flowers *POP* with paint! Too bad about the alphabet plans--but it is a cool result!!
