I am going to the SCS gathering in Williamsburg this weekend---I am so excited!! Wish you all lived nearby, so everyone could come!
I needed something for the 3D swap, and Karen's (kthaman's) Inspiration Challenge gave me the ideea to do an ornament. I really liked the colors in the IC piece, but I wanted to use the new In Colors for the swap, and I knew I wanted to do something with snowflakes.
The ornament itself is a round coaster from Olive Garden (this is why my DD's say they have EPD [Emvarrassing Parent Disorder]---I make them go around and collect them from the tables while I tackle the waiters !
I cuttlebugged soft sky cs and after adhering it to the coaster, I sponged VV craft ink on the edges and embossed in VV EP to seal it.
The large snowflake is NQN craft embossed with hologram highlights EP then punched out with the giga scalloped circle punch and sponged with blue bayou. The middle snowflake is silver EP, and the top snowflake is first inked with versamark then with soft sky to create a 'craft' ink and then embossed in HH EP as well.
Each layer is popped up on dimensionals and the square brad is a new SU! Ice Rhinestone brad.
I got the idea for the hanger from Julie HRR---she is such a stampin' savvy whizzz, I tell ya! I made the hanger with the round tab punch from McGill with silver cs. To make the hanger opening, I punched a circle in the middle of one of the round tabs, folded it, and then used the 1/2 inch circle punch to punch the hole again. Then used the scalloped scissors on the bottom edge.
I do so hope they like it---it's my first 3D swap.
TFL!
