I made this basket as a donation for a silent auction to benefit Bit by Bit, the therapeutic horseback riding program my youngest son attends. My idea was for it to resemble a pot of flowers. It holds twenty cards and envelopes, most of which were created for SCS challenges. (Now I have a good answer for DH, who used to ask 'What are you going to do with all of these cards?')
I don't know if you can tell, but I hot glued small clothes pins to green floral stakes, one for each card/blossom. A styrofoam disc is stuck in the basket, and the stakes are stuck into the styrofoam, which I then covered with floral moss. I adorned with ribbon, and there you have it!
In hopes to bring in a little extra money, I'm making a little sign that will read the following:
"20 Hand-Crafted Greeting Cards
Created by renowned paper artist
Carole Burrage
Feast your eyes upon this stunning array of mini-masterpieces! Talk about caring enough to send the very best – why, no gift will be necessary once the receiver opens the envelope to one of these one-of-a-kind beauties! Each card is an original, loaded with layers of embellishments, ribbon, creative detail, and (of course) love.
Alternatively, they are suitable for framing and/or enshrining.
Value: PRICELESS!!! (similar – as if! – store-bought cards sell for approximately $5 each; 20 cards × $5 = $100.00)"
Hee hee! I let you know how it sells!
PS -- Ask and ye shall receive, right? It brought in exactly $100, so I'm pleased!!
