When I glued the circle part on, I wasn't thinking about measuring, so card is actually 4-1/4"x5-3/4".
The background is faux leather with masking tape. I added color dtp and then spritzed with water, let dry, coated with versamark and clear embossed.
The butterfly is done on vellum card stock. I scribbled with markers on the vellum, spritzed with water, blended the colors with a brush and dried. Had to weight the ends of the vellum, because it wanted to curl up in a roll. After it dried, I stamped the butterfly with stazon, let dry, coated with versamark and clear embossed; then cut it out. I used sticky strip to glue the body down and dimensionals cut in half along the outer edges of the wings to pop them up a bit.
After I attached the faux leather panel to the black with sticky strip, I decided I needed to add ribbon... hmmmm. Well, everyone knows that sticky strip is made to stick, right? So pulling apart the panels was not an option. Fortunately for me, I have this cool tool I made from plastic canvas. I cut a strip about 1/2" wide the length of the canvas, cut a hole in one end and pulled a 2" strip of grosgrain ribbon thru and put an eyelet through the ribbon to hold it there. By stapling a strip of ribbon to the ribbon on the canvas, I can use the canvas like a big needle and thread it in between the layers of card stock.
Even though this card sounds like a lot of work, all the steps are easy and I am thrilled with how it turned out. It's much more awesome IRL.
