This is for the Featured Stamper 14 challenge and Candy, cwilliams, is our inspiration artist. That girl has lots to choose from in her gallery. You have to check it out. Here is the holiday card of Candy's that I decided to case. I loved the layout and the framed tree. Holiday Tree by cwilliams at Splitcoaststampers I haven't gotten t stamp and paint much lately and wanted to do something that would get my creative energy flowing and make a card for my brother-in-law, Dan at the same time. I kept the exact same layout and changed up the DP and color combination. I sketched the tree and fence with my brown artist pen and used a small sponge dauber with moss ink to create the background of the leaf area. I used caramel and chocolate chip reinkers to paint the tree trunk and fence. I then used my trusty and soon to be retired (sigh and sob....but I will never stop using it) Watercolor Minis fern stamp to apply both moss and artichoke ink. I used my brown artist pen to fill in some branch areas around in the leaves. I used a small watercolor brush to create the saffron and blush blossom flowers along the fence and ground area and then used artichoke to paint little stems. I took a dry small brush and kept brushing it over the moss ink pad and brushing lightly around the whole ground area filling in and being careful not to cover up my light flowers. This is an especially nice technique if you have issues with sponging. Wiping a small dry brush over an inkpad and using it on your cardstock is like having a mini stipple brush. It gives great texture. I have a problem watercoloring areas like the ground and seem to get too heavy handed and ruin my scene. I have turned to dry brushing and small sponges as a remedy for that problem. I sponged on saffron around the flowers and sky area to give a highlight to the scene. I punched of both layers with the corner ticket punch that Candy used but changed up the circle tag for an oval.

Gorgeous, Kittie! I love your choice of dp to frame your beautiful artwork. I also sent Dan and Jeannie a card, and they are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh my goodness, Kittie, this is stunning. I love your framed tree and the DP is so perfect for the scene you created. I thought of you when I pulled out the Watercolor Mini fern for my card. A card will be in tomorrow's mail for your BIL and Sister. Know, too, they are on our family prayer list. Hugs to you, my friend.
