This is one prototype of a set of note cards I am going to do for my little sister, Jeannie. She is coming with her family for Christmas and I wanted to give her something made by me. Today I ordered Fabriano Medioevals note cards (recommended for single layer cards by JulieHRR)from Dick Blick. I plan on using Garden Pleasures, Garden Treasures and Sweet Herbs and will probably do 8 to 12 different scenes.
I masked off a border around the card with post its and I stamped and painted the main image and then painted and sponged the ground area around it. I sketched in the tree and fence with an artist pen and then painted. I used my Watercolor Minis fern stamp (it's been feeling quite neglected during this holiday card making season) to fill in the ground area and along the fence line, and to create the foliage for the tree. I used Old Olive and Garden green on the leaves to create texture.
This is the first time in a long while I have done a summer scene as I have been Christmas card crazy for quite a while. It was a nice break.

A summer scene IS refreshing, especially since it's been snowing all day here. I love how all the pots are labeled. Sweet, sweet card for your lil' sis!

I love my sisters, but I would like to be your sister too! What a special gift.....she won't use them, won't send them to anyone, won't even think about it....you know that don't you?

just beautiful-a real work of art! Like all your cards. I'm sure she will love them and probably have trouble giving them away-I know I would. Maybe you should just go ahead and frame them for her What a cute set these would make in small matching frames...
