As I said Monday, I'm traveling with only watercolors, watercolor notecards and Zentangle pens. When I saw the sketch challenge, I at first thought that maybe I'd have to skip it. But I'm not afraid to try something and it didn't turn out so bad. I first painted the oval, let it dry mostly and then added the side pieces. I didn't worry too much about size or neat edges. I traced a prescription cap to create the circle, drawn with some metallic gel pens. I used blue Microns to do most of the Zentangle. Finally I splattered some blue metallic watercolors. The kanji on the right means 'peace.' As I was working on the wc, I decided to make this look rather Asian because I wanted to use Japan as my ABC20J location. I went to Japan in 1993 for a music event. We spent most of our time in Chiba which is near Tokyo. It was quite the trip; talk about a cultural shock. I discovered that the Japanese word for music is joruri, another 'j' word. Joruri accompanies bunraku, traditional Japanese puppet theater.
Thanks for the challenges!

Jean, this is stunning. I took a note from your book and mostly only took my watercolors and papers to my crafting retreat this weekend and I loved it. This design you created here is so pretty and so well done. Each stroke is lovely. Very creative and pretty. Hugz
